Pregnancy is a miracle of creation, but it can be hard on a body or mind. Pregnancy massage is about supporting you and bubs to relax and connect, while easing discomforts your body may feel from hosting another within it.
It is a lovely way to spend time relaxing, recuperating and re-energising, all while feeling safe and nurtured.
Aches and pains around your body can be as result of how you sit, stand or move during your usual daily life. Our muscles become used to resting or working in a particular way, sometimes an injury or even a change in our daily activities will affect how the muscles are working together, some will have to work harder if others aren't doing their jobs effectively.
Having a postural assessment during your initial visit gives us a chance to see which of your muscles have seized up and which aren't working correctly in their function.
By completing an assessment of your range of motion we can determine where we should focus your massages. Working towards the best outcome for you.
This is why I have a longer initial appointment, giving you enough time to be assessed, but still leaving you plenty for remedial massage.
However, if you would like to add a Postural assessment in at a later appointment, they can be added as a separate 30 minutes on to any massage when booking.
Offering you simple activities of 30 second blocks that you can take home to help you stretch the distance between massage sessions, or give you instant relief until your next remedial massage booking.
Remedial massage used to 'Remedy' issues. Ordinarily used for clients with specific areas of pain or dysfunction. Including chronic stress.
Remedial, like Deep Tissue works on areas to release knots and muscle dysfunction.
Using trigger point release and manual stretches to improve your outcomes.
Private health rebates are only applicable to Remedial massage.
Yes, pregnancy massage is remedial, please see Pregnancy massage for details.
Trigger points are areas of your body where muscle waste has built up into a blockage, causing you pain.
Having the trigger points released breaks up the blockage and allows your blood to flow through your muscles again.
My trigger point release is not a stand alone appointment, it will always be an optional part of a remedial massage so that your muscles have loosened, making the release less uncomfortable.
(Trigger point release can leave the recipient feeling tender the next day. And can not be offered during pregnancy massage. An alternate technique is used in Pregnancy massage)
The goal of Swedish Massage is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart, using flowing strokes and techniques.
Swedish Massage is extremely therapeutic as it increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body.
You will reap the benefits of massage if it becomes a regular part of your life. My goal is for us to work together to take better care of your health, long-term so that you can reach your goals.
Communication is key. I need to know what you're feeling, experiencing and what you're looking to gain in order to best help you during your massage. In turn, I will explain the treatment and what you can expect to gain from it.
A previous belief in society was that 'no pain = no gain' was applicable to massage, however muscles will guard themselves when a pain response is triggered.
'Comfortably uncomfortable' is the maximum recommended during massage treatment with me.
I have a moderate pressure as my base, using the techniques and skills taught to me in order to access deeper muscle tension.
During your treatment I will be checking whether my pressure is sufficient or too firm with you by watching your body responses and asking for your opinion.
If during treatment you feel I am too firm, or not firm enough for your preference, I welcome you letting me know.
