Remedial massage assessment for range of movement of legs

Postural Assessment: Understanding the Root of Your Discomfort

Aches and pains don’t always start where they’re felt. Often, they’re the result of how your body is positioned throughout the day—whether you're sitting at a desk, standing for long periods, or moving in repetitive ways.

Through postural assessment, we explore how your muscles are working together—or compensating for one another. Sometimes an injury or a simple shift in your daily routine can throw off your body's natural balance, causing certain muscles to work overtime while others underperform.

Identifying these imbalances allows us to tailor your treatment more effectively, improve your alignment, and support long-term relief—not just temporary fixes.

Having a postural assessment during your initial visit gives us a chance to see which of your muscles have seized up and which aren't working correctly in their function.

By completing an assessment of your range of motion we can determine where we should focus your massages. Working towards the best outcome for you.

This is why I have a longer initial appointment, giving you enough time to be assessed,  but still leaving you plenty for remedial massage.

However,  if you would like to add a Postural assessment in at a later appointment,  they can be added as a separate 30 minutes on to any massage when booking.

Pregnancy and postnatal massage

Pregnancy is a profound journey—beautiful, transformative, and often physically demanding. Our specialised pregnancy massage is designed to support both you and your baby through every stage, offering relief from the common discomforts of pregnancy while encouraging deep relaxation and connection.

Each session is tailored with side-lying positioning to ensure your body is fully supported and comfortable, creating a safe space where you can truly rest and recharge. Whether you're experiencing back pain, pelvic discomfort, or simply need a moment to breathe, this massage helps your nervous system soften and your body let go.

Massage during all trimesters—including the first—is safe when performed by a therapist trained in pregnancy massage. Our qualifications ensure a deep understanding of the unique needs of pregnancy, including what to avoid and how to adapt your treatment based on your body and baby’s stage of development.

This is more than just a massage—it's a moment of care for you, so you can continue caring for the little life you're growing.

Remedial Massage: Purposeful Care for Pain, Tension, and Recovery

Remedial massage is a focused, clinical approach to treating pain, tension, and dysfunction—whether it’s from postural strain, injury recovery, chronic stress, or muscular imbalances. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all treatment—it’s a personalised session designed to restore movement, reduce discomfort, and help your body feel more at home.

Using techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, manual stretching, and Chapman’s reflexes, your treatment goes beyond the table. Chapman’s reflexes activate the nervous system in a way that can provide instant relief and improve postural function. You’ll also receive simple 30-second take-home strategies that you can use to maintain relief, extend the benefits of your session, and support your wellbeing between appointments.

Whether you're navigating chronic pain, stress-related tension, or a specific area of dysfunction, your session will be tailored to your unique goals.

Private health rebates are available with eligible cover.

Note: Pregnancy massage is considered remedial and includes adaptations specific to pregnancy. Please see our Pregnancy Massage page for more details

Trigger Point Release (as part of Remedial Massage)

Trigger points are tight, irritable spots within your muscles—often caused by tension, stress, or built-up metabolic waste. These areas can create referred pain, limiting your range of motion and making everyday movements uncomfortable.

Through trigger point release, these blockages are gently worked through, restoring healthy blood flow and allowing your muscles to relax and function more effectively.

In my treatments, trigger point therapy is integrated into remedial massage, never used in isolation. This ensures your surrounding muscles are first softened and warmed, making the release more effective and far more comfortable.

It’s normal to feel some tenderness the next day, as your body recalibrates—but most clients describe a noticeable reduction in pain and tension after a session.

Please note: Trigger point release is not used during pregnancy massage. A modified, gentler technique is used to safely support your body during pregnancy.

Relaxation Massage (Swedish Technique)

Relaxation massage—also known as Swedish massage—uses flowing, rhythmic strokes designed to melt away muscle tension and gently guide your body back into balance. The goal is to calm your nervous system while increasing circulation and supporting your overall sense of wellbeing.

This style of massage is deeply therapeutic: it improves blood oxygenation, enhances flexibility, and helps your body and mind reset from the demands of daily life.

Whether you're feeling stressed, drained, or simply in need of a quiet moment to yourself, this treatment offers a gentle pause and a reconnection to your breath and body.

Building Relationships

To truly reap the full benefits of massage, it’s most effective when it becomes a regular part of your self-care routine. My goal is for us to work together to prioritize your health and wellbeing long-term, so you can achieve and maintain your goals.

To provide you with the best possible care, I need to understand how you're feeling, what you're experiencing, and what you're hoping to achieve during your massage. I also want to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the session, so please let me know if the music, temperature, or blankets aren’t to your liking—your comfort matters to me.

In return, I’ll explain the treatment process and outline what you can expect to gain from each session, ensuring you feel supported and informed every step of the way.

A brief chat around pressure

In the past, there was a belief that "no pain, no gain" applied to massage. However, muscles tend to guard themselves when they sense pain, which can hinder the benefits of treatment.

With me, the goal is to achieve a "comfortably uncomfortable" pressure—where you feel relief without distress. I typically work with moderate pressure as my base, using a variety of techniques to access deeper muscle tension.

Throughout your session, I’ll be monitoring your body’s responses and checking in with you to ensure the pressure is just right. If at any point you feel that the pressure is too firm—or not firm enough—please feel free to let me know.

Your comfort and results are my priority.
